Fuel: bring it back at the same level
Return gas, diesel and hybrid vehicles with at least the fuel level recorded at pickup. We photograph the level at pickup and return. A difference of up to 3 percentage points of the tank is not charged.
Refueling service
If the vehicle comes back with less fuel, we refuel it and charge a $25 service fee plus $0.90 for each percentage point of the tank we refill. Filling up yourself shortly before you return is almost always cheaper.
Prepaid fuel
Where it is offered at checkout, prepaid fuel lets you return the vehicle at any fuel level. It is priced as a full tank, and fuel left in the tank is not refunded.
Electric vehicles: charge level
Return an electric vehicle with at least the charge level recorded at pickup, but you never need to bring it back above 80%. A difference of up to 3 percentage points is not charged.
Recharging service
If an electric vehicle comes back below the required level, we recharge it and charge a $25 service fee plus $0.90 for each percentage point we recharge.
Charging during your rental
You can charge at any public charger at your own cost, following that network's rules. If a charging session or idle fee is billed to our account, for example at Tesla Superchargers, we pass it on at cost with no added fee. Move the vehicle when charging finishes to avoid idle fees.
Running low
Range changes with weather, speed and heating, so plan charging stops ahead. If the vehicle runs out of charge or fuel, the cost of towing or bringing energy to it is billed at cost, unless a vehicle fault caused it.
Cables and adapters
Return the charging cable and any adapters that came with an electric vehicle. Missing items are billed at replacement cost.
